Sulemana joins the list of casualties

Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, Upper West Regional Minister has joined the list of ministers of state who have lost their parliamentary seats.

Mr Moses Dani Baah of the Peoples' National Convention (PNC) polled 16,009 to defeat Alhaji Sulemana, who obtained 12,046 in the Sissala constituency. Mr Mus-Huud Dawudu Lamini of New Patriotic Party (NPP) polled 632 votes while Issah Musah of United Ghana Movement (UGM) got 219.

Other ministers, who have lost their seats are Nii Okaija Adamafio, Minister of the Interior, Mr Joshua Alabi, Greater Accra Regional Minister, and Nii Adjei Boye Sekan, Minister of State.

The rest are Mr J. H. Owusu Acheampong Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Richard Dornu Nartey Deputy Minister of Land and Forestry, Mr Simon Abingya, Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy, and Alhaji Kojo Mahama Adam deputy Minister of Brong Ahafo Region.

On a brighter note for the NDC, Mr Edward Kojo Salia, Minister of State is the new Member of Parliament for Jirapa. He polled 16,446 votes as against 1,380 by Safiata Badiu Yelpoe of National Reform Party (NRP) and 891 by timothy Taafaale Dombo of New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Some ministers who have won seats are Communications minister John Mahama, Deputy Employment minister Ama Benyiwa Doe, Minister for parliamentary affairs Dr. Kwabena Adjei, Trade and Industry minister Dan Abodakpi and Volta regional minister Lt. Col Charles Agbenaza.
