Suhum residents demonstrate against recent murders

Suhum (E/R) Jan. 17, GNA - Residents of Suhum in the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District in the Eastern Region on Wednesday went on demonstration to back demands for the Police to conduct investigations into the murder of a number of people in recent times.

Travellers using the Kumasi - Accra Highway are stranded because the demonstrators have erected roadblocks at both ends of the town. Some of the demonstrators told the GNA in an interview in Suhum that four people had been murdered within the past three weeks with the latest one taking place three days ago and whose body was still lying at spot unattended to.

Mr Emmanuel Asare, a Spare Parts Dealer in Suhum, said the people decided to embark on the demonstration because appeals made to the District Police Command and District Chief Executive, Mr Michael Kofi Mensah to stop the killings have yielded no results. 17 Jan. 07
