Bekwai (Ash), Feb 28, GNA - An 18-year-old student of the Asante-Bekwai Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Secondary School has been placed in police custody for defiling a 14-year-old junior secondary school pupil.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kankam Boadu, the Amansie East District Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency that at about 2000 hours on February 11, this year, the suspect lured the victim into his room and had sex with her. He said the victim's father who was looking for her had a tip-off that his daughter was in the suspect's room and consequently traced her there.

ASP Kankam Boadu said the victim's father therefore reported the case to the police who arrested the suspect who claimed the girl was his girlfriend. He said the police are still investigating the case.
