Spokesperson of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, Richmond Rockson, has expressed frustration over repeated theft and vandalism of streetlights meant to illuminate cities across the country.

'I spent GH¢750,000 fixing street lights, yet the area is dark again' – KMA boss
His explanation was in reaction to a social media user who questioned relevant authorities on the state of city lighting as a means of safety to pedestrians and drivers.
"It really bothers me that human lives mean nothing to us. What will it take to fix streetlights on our roads?? It’s frustrating oo smh," the social media user wrote.
In response to her query, Richmond Rockson sought to explain the situation and how his outfit intends to resolve it.
“… I acknowledge the concern. The major challenge is that despite our continued installation and rehabilitation of streetlights, they are repeatedly stolen shortly after installation,” Rockson wrote.
“The persistent theft and vandalism of streetlights and their components really undermine every effort to enhance visibility and improve public safety,” he added.
