Stop the negative tagging; SADA has transformed – Charles Abugre

The Chief Executive Officer of SADA, Charles Abugre has lamented the negative reportage and bad image consistently being associated with the image of his institution.

He insisted that SADA is an institution like any other and as a human institution there are bound to be mistakes.

He noted that the events of 2011/2012 that gave SADA this negative tag is past and gone and therefore not fair that people keep tagging them with it.

Charles Abugre disclosed that there are several institutions, some of them state and some private, who have been indicted by the Auditor-Generals report yet such institutions don’t get to be tagged negatively.

He stressed “I don’t know institutions where, 4, 5, 6 years in a row, adverse findings made against them remains the subject of the image of the organisation perpetually. I have responded to these by saying, somehow, we love and desire to dwell on mistakes of the past. Even when fundamental changes are happening, we just love to paint negative pictures.”

He observed that most institutions in the country have been confronted with some form of malpractice detailing that “institutions are subject to problems, all institutions in Ghana have had problems but it is not a reason why the institution should be perpetually tagged with it”

The CEO of SADA also pointed out that “we have had a lot of problems and we are striving to get better” adding that “we learnt a lot of lessons and we have become bigger and stronger”



Chinese donaation

Charles Abugre made these remarks after a ceremony to receive some Agro processing equipment donated to SADA by the Chinese Embassy in Ghana.

He was delighted that the programmes and projects initiated by SADA were yielded tremendous results and hoped that the policy frameworks put in place will continue to receive the support it currently enjoys.

On her part, the Special Development Initiatives Minister, Mavis Hawa Koomson was optimistic that with such support it will go a long way into feeding into the government’s flagship policies of one-district-one-factory, One district, one dam and $1 million, one constituency.

She was delighted that SADA is encouraging the development of small and medium scale enterprises.

The Chinese Ambassador, Sun Baohun asserted that isn’t a one off contribution to Ghana’s development but is an indication of the growing relationship between the two countries.

She explained that China is happy engaging in win-win partnerships with Ghana and discarded the notion of there were strings attached to the donations.

She mentioned the recent visit of Vice President Bawumia as successful and said it's an indication of the deepening bond between the two countries.

The Chinese donated 13 sets of maize grinding machines, 2 sets of soya bean machines, and 1 set of millet milling machine worth $217,400 to SADA.
