The Director In-charge of Education and Risk Management at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Aboagye DaCosta has admonished Ghanaians to desist from abusing and calling to prank the COVID-19 emergency numbers.

He stated that there are some people who have been abusing the emergency call numbers ever since they announced the rise in the number of cases in Ghana.

The Health practitioner was speaking to Kingdom News during a stakeholder’s engagement involving Ghana Journalist Association (JGA), Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA), Ghana Medical Association (GMA) and other agencies at the Information Ministry to deliberate on the ministry’s Programming Support for through the media.

Dr. DaCosta stressed that the number of prank calls increased drastically when the GHS announced four new cases which he believes is a bad practice and will affect other important victims.

He, therefore, assured Ghanaians not to panic and stay calm since the GHS is working tirelessly to curb the spread.

The General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr Justice Yankson also stated that they have also put all the necessary measures in place to support the fight against COVID-19 and offer the important information and education needed to the public.
