A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has called on members of the party to stop feeling sorry for themselves in the aftermath of the 2024 general elections.

In a video posted by UTV on X on October 9, 2025, Otchere-Darko cautioned that indulging in self-pity could further dampen the spirit of party members and weaken their resolve ahead of the 2028 elections.

“Stop feeling sorry because sometimes if you are not careful and you feel too sorry for yourself, you begin to lose confidence in yourself. You must be bolder in defending what you did, humble in accepting where you fell short, and confident enough to say you achieved more in many sectors,” he stated.

He mentioned several achievements of the NPP government, including improvements in roads, health, agriculture, education, and security, noting that the party should take pride in these records rather than dwell on regrets.

Otchere-Darko encouraged members to acknowledge mistakes made while in office but move forward with renewed determination.

“Have the humility to accept that there were some omissions and commissions that could have been done better or differently. But don’t wallow in sorrow,” he said.

Responding to claims that the NPP neglected the Ashanti Region, he argued that the party delivered on many local demands, particularly in road construction.

He maintained that, on a per capita basis, the region benefited significantly from infrastructure projects under the NPP administration.
