A three-year-old girl has been left with injuries in Winneba after her stepmother allegedly poured hot water on her private parts for wetting the bed, according to a citinewsroom.com report.
According to the news report, the child, who had been sent from Swedru to spend the vacation with her father, was reportedly assaulted by the stepmother, identified only as Akaima, a Liberian national.
The report detailed that the girl's mother said she only discovered the ordeal when she travelled to Winneba to collect her daughter, after the father failed to return her on time.
"She couldn't walk properly, so I checked her. That was when I saw the burns. She told me her stepmother did it because she urinated on herself," the distraught mother is quoted to have said.

Doctors at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba confirm the burns are extensive and will require specialised procedures.
Child protection group Challenging Heights has taken up the case, pledging financial support for the girl's treatment. The organisation has also demanded immediate arrests.
"We expect DOVVSU to swiftly pick up both the stepmother and the father, who oversaw this cruelty," said Enock Dery Paafu, Programmes Manager of Challenging Heights.
