A steel bender, who allegedly continuously sexually abused a 13-year-old girl left in his care, has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court charged with defilement.

Benjamin Kofi Fusse has, however, denied the offence.

The court presided over by Mrs Rita Abrokwa Doko admitted Fusse to bail in the sum of GH¢20,000 with three sureties, one to be justified.

Fusse is expected to reappear on May 3.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire, narrated to the court that the victim lived with her aunt at Achimota Gulf Hills.

He said the victim’s aunt relocated to Ashaiman and due to the victim’s schooling, she was left to live with the accused and his family at Achimota Gulf Hills.

Chief Inspector Atimbire said last year, Fusse’s wife travelled and left behind her kids and the victim.

Prosecution said Fusse took advantage of the wife’s absence and forcibly had sex with the victim.

According to the prosecution, the act continued even when the wife returned from her trip.

He said on March 30, this year at dawn, prosecution said the victim was sleeping in the sitting room when Fusse sneaked in and had sex with her again.

The Prosecution said the victim could no longer bear the sexual ordeal and went to the Achimota School Police Station and reported the matter.

He said the Police then invited the aunt to come and assist in investigations.

The prosecution said the matter was transferred to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit (DOVVSU), Tesano where a medical report form was issued to her to seek medical attention for the victim.

He said Fusse was then arrested but he denied the offence.
