Indigenous oil marketing firm, Star Oil has consolidated its position as industry leader in the sale of petroleum products in the country for the first five months of 2025.
This is according to the National Petroleum Authority (NPA)'s Oil Marketing Companies Performance Statistics from January to May 2025.
Per the report, Star Oil has overtaken the leading oil marketing company, GOIL which over the years held the title as a leader, selling the highest volume of petroleum products in the country.
Over the years, Star Oil had in some cases emerged as the leading oil marketing firm in a few months.
But the company now appears to be consolidating its position in the industry.
The Oil Marketing Companies Performance Statistics from January to May 2025, showed that Star Oil sold a total of 336.3 million volumes of petroleum products.
Data on Star Oil’s half year performance showed that it sold 403 million litres of petroleum products.
For Petrol, Star Oil sold 193.9 million litres, 139.3 million litres for Diesel and 3.1 million litres for Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG)
Meanwhile, GOIL on the other hand sold a total 271.3 million litres from January to May this year, 156 million litres for Petrol, 111 million litres for Diesel and 3.6 million litres for LPG
The Oil Marketing Companies Performance Statistics from January to May showed that 2.4 billion liters of petroleum products was sold by more than 200 oil marketing firms in the country.
According to published financials for the first six months of the year, Star Oil paid GH¢1.1 billion to the government as taxes.
