A Wa Circuit presided over by Baah Agyepong Forson, has convicted a 30-year old former staff of Stanbic Bank, Wa Branch to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing GH ¢297, 000 through electronic transactions.

According to the facts of the case as presented to the court, Rahman Ahmed between August 31 and September 2, 2016 at the Wa Branch of the Bank where he was an employee as a cashier stole the money in electronic mobile money form.

His shady deals were later uncovered by officials of the bank who lodged a complaint with the police leading to his arrest and subsequently charged for stealing before the court.

It was gathered that he invested the stolen money in a kraal at Poyentanga,a community sixteen Kilometres away from the Wa township and used the rest on lavish lifestyle.

Prior to his conviction, counsel for the accused Clement Eledi pleaded for mitigation sentence but the trial judge will not take any of that.
