An annual reunion to reconnect the alumni of St. Peters Senior High School and their alma mater has been launched last week in Accra.

This event presents an opportunity for the Old Boys to show appreciation for the impact the school has made in their lives, as well as assist their alma mater to continue its excellent record.

The former students, who form the St. Peters Old Boy’s Association (PERSCOBA) have committed to the school’s enhancement by affiliating with and supporting various initiatives by the school.

In conjunction with the school’s administration, PERSCOBA will this year be the hosts for the upcoming Speech & Prize Giving Day and Homecoming, dubbed ‘Perscoba Reconnect’ and the theme “Academic Excellence: - The Role of Perscoba.” This annual event where alumni from all over the world will gather to thank their alma mater, renew old friendships and make new ones from December 4th to 6th 2015.

Perscoba Richard Osei-Anim, the current President of Perscoba emphasises that, “this year’s event will be the first time we have gathered in this format since 2007. It is an occasion when the newly sworn-in executives of PERSCOBA will announce several flagship events including launching a branding exercise aptly named ‘I Am Perscoba!’ using social media to propagate it with the hashtag ‘?#?iamperscoba???’.”

“Besides the Speech Day undertakings, ‘Perscoba Reconnect’ is special due to many other reasons, including it being three days of significance in the lives of the alumni and the students as it guarantees to bring together an elite assembly of distinguished Perscoba from around the world. The 3-day event is packed with carefully selected and exciting activities that will bring back nostalgic feelings among the alumni about their years of study at our picturesque Persco Campus.”

“It is expected that the gathering will attract a large number of alumni to participate in various activities, including a Health Walk and Health Screening, a Football Match between Perscoba and the teaching staff, an Entertainment Session with Perscoba Kwabena Kwabena & Nana Kwame Ampadu in attendance, a Perscoba Barbecue and an Annual General Congress of PERSCOBA where The Perscoba Constitution will be ratified. We will also commission completed projects and cut the sod for new projects,” says Perscoba Richard Osei-Anim

A planning committee for the event is currently putting together logistics to ensure the execution of a successful Homecoming & Speech Day.

The chair of the planning committee Perscoba David Boafo mentioned that, “There are amazing opportunities for interested Perscoba, or any business for that matter, to become associated with the events via sponsorship. With a database of over 10,000 alumni scattered across the length and breadth of the country and across the globe, all of who will be engaged one way or another through social media, patronizing us is sure to get any organization significant mileage.”

A fundraising exercise dubbed '5 for 5' which aims to raise 5ghs per person for 5 weeks using mobile money has also been launched.
