Sports Ministry is implementing Dzamefe Commission Report – Hadzide

THE Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Pius Enam Hadzide, has disclosed that the Sports Ministry is implementing parts of the recommendations of the Dzamefe Commission Report and the government’s white paper that was issued after the Commission’s work.

Speaking on GTV Sports Highlights, he said, “We have met the documents, have reviewed it and are implementing aspects of the White Paper. We will initiate processes to review those we have problems with".

"This is a White Paper and since government is a continuous process, we cannot ignore the report".

"There are some fundamental challenges and difficulties we have with some aspects of the recommendations and White Paper”.

“We are implementing some of the recommendations as at now, for example the winning bonus issue of the national teams, which was a recommendation in the White Paper. Moreover, the White Paper also discourages the Ministry from financing various supporters unions to go and support the national teams. “The White Paper has recommended that we rationalise all these supporters unions and form one national union and we are working on that”.

Pius Enam Hadzide also stated that sponsorship from Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) will be properly accounted for and will be transparent. “There is a huge future for Ghana sports under this government, by the time we finish implementing some of the reforms we are rolling out, we will begin to see some changes,” he added.

The Dzamefe Commission was set up by former President John Dramani Mahama after the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
