The Electoral Commission’s Presiding Officer at the James Town Police Station polling Centre has described the process so far as smooth and flawless.
Speaking to JoyNews, the presiding officer stated that it has been a near-perfect exercise with only one issue so far.
According to him, one of the security officers who came could not find his name on the register.
Speaking of the possible reason for the development, he stated that it is likely that the name of the said officer was excluded from the list submitted by his superiors.
While he failed to disclose the name and institution the said officer belongs to, he surmised that it is possible that the officer failed to follow up.
He, however, added that the issue was resolved amicably, with the officer understanding the situation and leaving the voting centre once it was made clear to him.
“The total number is 530. We've not had any challenges so far except for one security officer who could not find his name on the register. I think that when he applied, he didn't follow up to check. He said he gave the name to an officer but he didn't check,” he said.
The Special Voting exercise is ongoing across 14 regions of the country, with only Eastern and Western Regions missing out.
According to the Electoral Commission, both regions will have theirs on December 5.
The 2024 General Election is set for Saturday, December 7.
