Parliament has approved a staggering amount of GHC800,000 for the development of a website for the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives.

The figure was contained in the breakdown of the ministry’s 2018 projected expenditure.

It is unclear the nature of the website the ministry intends developing but an IT expert Divine Puplampo who spoke to Starrfmonline.com Thursday said the budget for the website is a complete rip-off.

“Such an amount for a new ministry’s website is a just a rip-off. It is outrageously too much. For a new ministry that obviously has limited information and data to post out there, it shouldn’t cost them more GHC200,000 to develop a good website and that should even include maintenance, ” he said.

The new Ministry led by the Awutu Senya East MP Mavis Hawa Koomson presented a total budget GH¢71, 059, 970.00 for approval by parliament to for its operations in the ensuing year.

Meanwhile, the minister has assured the Ministry will ensure value for money in the execution of all the projects.

According to her, all the projects that would be undertaken by the Ministry were selected by the communities themselves after 10-member committee visited each of the constituencies to interact with the people and learn about their specific needs.
