Speaker Starts Official Visit To Angola

Luanda, April 7 - The speaker of Ghana`s National Assembly (parliament), Peter Al-Adjetey, started on Tuesday a 48-hour official and friendship visit to Angola, to explore areas of possible cooperation between the two countries` parliaments.

On arrival at the Luanda "4 February"Airport, Peter Al-Adjetey was welcomed by his local counterpart, Roberto de Almeida.

Speaking to journalists, the Ghanaian Parliament speaker said he came to learn how things are going on here and explore areas of cooperation between the two parliaments.

He explained that with Roberto de Almeida he will discuss the cooperation between the two countries within the context of the Pan-African Parliament and seek ways to improve the continent`s people living condition.

After arriving in Luanda Peter Al-Adjetey travelled to northern Bengo province, where he viewed socio-economic projects being implemented.

Today, according to the programme, he will meet with Roberto de Almeida, before attending a special session of the Angolan National Assembly.

In this first visit of his to Angola, Peter Al-Adjetey will visit the headquarters of the ruling MPLA and opposition UNITA parties and the embassy of his country to Angola.

He will also meet with the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Joao Miranda and Social Welfare, Jo?o Baptista Kussumua.
