English top-flight side Southampton have renewed their interest in Ghanaian forward Abass Issah after failing to secure his signature in 2018.

The Saints have been watching the former Ghana U-23 star since his days with Slovenian outfit Olimpija, before Mainz O5 secured his services.

Abass was sent on loan to Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente after a difficult start to life at Mainz O5.

He has since scored 8 goals in 22 appearances for FC Twente before the season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to reports in England, Southampton have shown keen interest in the service of the Ghanaian attacker and are set to meet his parent club to begin negotiation for his transfer.

Mainz O5 are one of the clubs in Germany to be hit hard financially by the outbreak of the Coronavirus, and could be force to sell some of the best players in the summer transfer window.
