Francis Xavier Sosu, the Member of Parliament for Madina, has reacted to a viral video in circulation in which he was captured saying that the youth must create jobs for themselves rather than wait for government employment.
Speaking in an interview on Metro TV on Monday, March 30, 2026, to address the video, Sosu explained that his comments were taken out of context and that all he tried to communicate was entrepreneurship.
He added that while the government will continue to create jobs, it cannot absorb every unemployed person.
“Government will create jobs. But no amount of jobs created by the government will absorb every unemployed person. You must understand that. Let’s be honest,” he said.

He also stated that personal growth and mentorship should not be politicised, stressing that the comments he made should not be about politics and that unemployment is not about political parties.
“It’s not about politics. Hunger doesn’t know politics. A lack of jobs doesn’t know political parties. If you want to tie your personal growth and jobs to NDC or NPP, I’m telling you, you’ll lose it,” Sosu added.
To buttress his point, the legislator further urged that no political person will remain a politician, insisting that he does not see himself as a career politician.
He said: “No political person will be a politician forever. I will do my own, my time will come, I will leave. But I’ve said too many times that you are here because you want to help the people. After service, I will go.”
Sosu emphasised that his focus has been on helping young people create opportunities, stating, “Many young people have come to my office, and by the time they are leaving, they turn into entrepreneurs. One of the things we do a lot is business support,” he said.
