Sons of Alhaji Asuma Banda in court

Accra, Jan. 11, GNA - Two sons of Alhaji Asumah Banda, a business tycoon appeared before an Accra Circuit Court charged with causing unlawful damage to properties worth 9,000 dollars belonging to Cinderella Night Club in Accra.
They are Sidiq Banda, a Purchasing Clerk of Antrak Air and Haleen Banda, Managing Director of PHC Motors in Tema. Sidiq was additionally charged for causing unlawful harm to Reginald Bannerman, a businessman.
They have pleaded not guilty. The court admitted them to 300 million cedis bail with a surety each to reappear on February 8. Two of their accomplices known only as Charles and Billo are at large The case narrated by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) George Abavelim was that the complainants Emmanuel Kiki Banson, Operator of Cinderella Night Club, and Reginald Bannerman, a Sales Representatives, worked with the Night Club.
Prosecution said Sidiq and Haleen were regular customers of the nightclub. On December 9, 2006 at about 0330 hours at the nightclub, a misunderstanding ensued between Charles and one Faisal at the Club's VIP section and this escalated into fierce fighting. During the fight, Sidiq, Haleen and Billo, who were friends took part in the fight and as a result vandalized properties both at the VIP section and a dance bar.
Properties including disco lights, mirrors, glasses and bottles all valued at 9,000 dollars were destroyed.
During the fight, Prosecution said Sidiq s tood at the entrance of the nightclub and threw bottles and glasses at customers and in the process Mr Bannerman got injured on his right arm.
He was rushed to the 37th Military Hospital and later transferred to the plastic surgery unit of the Korle Bu-Teaching Hospital. Prosecution said Mr Bannerman has since been flown to the United Kingdom to undergo general anaesthetic surgery to address infections.
