Some interesting fixtures in the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League

After the long absence of football in the country, the Ghana Premiere League kicks off on the weekend of 27-29 December, at match venues across the country.

According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) roadmap for the upcoming league season, all weekend matches will be played on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays whiles the midweek matches will be played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.

Matches may be played during mornings, mid-afternoons or evenings depending on kick-off times agreed with Television partners.

After the release of the 2019/2020 league fixtures, here are some interesting fixtures to keep in your diaries so you don’t miss out on this season’s action:

Season Openers

Accra Hearts of Oak SC, the continental club masters and Asante Kotoko SC, the club of the century would both kick-off their seasons at home.

Accra Hearts of Oak SC would play against Berekum Chelsea FC at the Accra Sports Stadium while arch rivals Asante Kotoko SC will host Eleven Wonders FC at Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.

Match Day Four: There would be crucial away fixtures for Hearts and Kotoko as the Porcupine Warriors, Asante Kotoko SC would storm Tarkwa to renew their rivalry with Medeama SC at the Tarkwa T&N Park whilst the Phobians would travel to Sogakope to play West African Football Academy (WAFA).

Match Day 6: Super Sunday: Hearts of Oak would host arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in Accra at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The same match day would also see Berekum Chelsea playing Aduana Stars FC in a Bono Derby.

Match Day Ten: Ashanti-Derby: Asante Kotoko SC would ost Ashantigold SC in an Ashanti Regional Derby at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Who rules the Ashanti Region?

Match Day 11: Fanti Derby: Elmina Sharks FC would face Ebusua Dwarfs FC in an all-fante clash to determine the Central Region kings.

Match Day 14: Accra -Derbies

Accra Hearts of Oak SC face Great Olympics FC at the Accra Sports Stadium while Liberty Professionals FC lock horns with Inter Allies FC.

Match Day 15: In enemy territory: Asante Kotoko SC travels to Accra to play Inter Allies FC hosts while Accra Hearts of Oak SC would visit Kumasi to play King Faisal.

Match Day 16: Kumasi Derby: Can King Faisal FC rule Kumasi when they play home against Asante Kotoko SC to end the first round of matches?
