Former NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman East Constituency, Hon. Kuntu Blankson has expressed deep concern about the way and manner some government officials are wantonly dissipating state funds without any care in the world.
According to him, even though President John Dramani Mahama has given the assurance that the economic hardship Ghanaians are currently experiencing is “temporary”, there is a need to fight sleaze in the public service.
Speaking on Adom FM, the former NDC MP suggested that, the President must set aside a day to publicly campaign against government officials “stealing from state coffers”.
“The President (John Mahama) must know that, it’s by the Grace of God that he is still steering the affairs of this country. If he wants to fight corruption, he should set a date and publicly announce that anyone who by fraudulent means loot from government funds must return the money with assurance that they will not punishment.
“…But if the person refuses to refund the money, serious actions must be enforced. Those people will never have peace. Ghanaians are suffering and the president is worried. Ghana is collapsing now and President John Mahama should not be blame. Some government officials are corrupt,” he bemoaned.
