The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed the arrest of WOI Williams Mensah, who was captured in viral CCTV footage assaulting two civilians at a pharmacy on October 29, 2025.
According to GAF, the suspect was apprehended by the Ghana Military Police at dawn on Thursday, October 30, 2025, hours after the incident occurred.

In a statement signed by Captain (Ghana Navy) Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director-General of Public Relations, the military indicated that the suspect is currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
It also disclosed that the victims, a female and a male shop attendant, have been medically treated and are also cooperating with the military in its inquiry.
“The Ghana Armed Forces has arrested the soldier seen in a viral video on GhOne TV and other social media platforms assaulting a drug store attendant and a female customer on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at a pharmacy in Burma Camp.
“The arrest of the suspect was carried out by Ghana Military Police personnel at dawn today, Thursday, October 30, 2025. The suspect is assisting in investigation over the incident. The victims have also undergone medical attention and are also assisting with investigations,” portions of the statement issued on October 30, 2025, read.
The military reiterated that it will neither tolerate nor condone violent actions or behavior by its personnel toward civilians.
It warned that soldiers found engaging in such acts will not be allowed to go unpunished.
“The Armed Forces assures the general public that it will not condone any acts of assault on civilians and will not shield any soldier engaged in such,” the statement concluded.

WOI Mensah demanded a refund of about GH¢65.00 after rejecting medicines he had sent a boy to purchase on his behalf.
The attendant reportedly informed him that the drugs sold are non-refundable, which infuriated the man and led him to assault both the attendant and the woman physically.
