A military officer was shot several times by unknown assailants at Tema on Friday, January 14 around 11PM.

Sergeant George Boakye of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), is believed to be attached to the Office of the President.

Information from reliable sources indicate that he was driving from Sakumono when he stopped to urinate by the roadside at Community 19 near the Accra Abattoir area. His attackers managed to snatch the Toyota Land Cruiser car he was driving and shot him multiple times in the chest when he tried to resist and get his weapon from the car to defend himself.

He was later rushed to the 37 Military Hospital by some good Samaritans who placed calls to the police. The police patrol team dispatched to the location found the Toyota Land Cruiser car which had been crashed on the Community 19 bridge.

Security officers have launched investigations into the incident.
