Socialist Forum to march against French intervention in Africa

Accra, April 11, GNA - The Socialist Forum (Ghana) on Monday condemned foreign intervention in Africa and announced a demonstration in Accra on Tuesday to protest the development.

A statement signed by Mr Kwasi Adu said the march organised by the Coalition against Foreign Intervention in Africa would begin from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle ay 0730 hours.

It said the Forum had been following current developments in Cote d'Ivoire, especially the capture of Ivorian incumbent president Laurent Gbagbo by the French Special Forces.

"In our view, the action of the French Special Forces in capturing the president of a sovereign state and handing him over to rebel forces is a flagrant violation of international law and a blatant attempt to impose the wishes of the French ruling elite in the Ivorian people.

"Undoubtedly, France has become an occupying power in La Cote d'Ivoire and it must be held fully responsible for the protection and the life of Laurent Gbagbo and all the Ivorian people irrespective of their political, ethnic or social affiliation or background." The Forum said the 93brazen actions of France in La Cote d'Ivoire and Libya could only be part of the grand design to re-colonise Africa".
