Socialist Forum of Ghana launches book

The International Socialist Movement is working to replace global capitalism with a socialist mode of production, Dr Adam Gamel Naiza, a lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon and a member of the Socialist Forum of Ghana (SFG) has observed.

He said the mode in which sources and means of production were socially owned and used equitably and rationally to develop society, unlocked humankinds true creativity that rendered repression and conflict unnecessary.

Dr Naiza was speaking at the launch of a book by the Forum titled: “Politics of Ethnicity and the Authority of the People” in Accra on Wednesday. Dr Naiza authored the book.

He said the basic requirement for the triumph of civilization was the successful conscious global mobilization of the working classes against the increasingly concentrated ownership of sources of means of production and for an equitable distribution of society’s production.

Dr Naiza said over the last 150 years, working people had compelled capitalist class to accept their right to organize strikes to protect their living standards and had fought and won legal equity of all citizens.

He noted that human beings were social and productive animals, who survived not just by individually taking what was available in nature, but by collectively transforming nature including human nature to meet their needs and in the process of creating new needs.

Mr Kwasi Pratt Jnr, Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper and also a Member of the Socialist Forum, thanked the people for honouring the invitation of the Forum.
