In the wake of an alleged comment made by America’s Donald Trump, ex-president John Mahama has attracted some ‘heat’ unto himself over a picture tweet he made concerning the issue which has enraged many Ghanaians and Africans in general.

Ex-President John Dramani Mahama made an earlier tweet which read, “Africans and Haitians come from ‘shithole’ countries? Isn’t Trump demonstrating that he’s nothing but a racist and pursuing a policy of ‘Make America White Again’? I congratulate Botswana for showing the way. Our AU Presidents must respond strongly to this insult.”

The former president who had early on called out Donald Trump as a ‘racist’ for his “shithole” comment took to Twitter in a recent post which read, “Shithole? Thought they said he was so impressed with us just last September?”.

Sometime last year, a photo of Donald Trump being shown an African map and the location of Ghana went viral on social media. Some people were of the view that Donald Trump was impressed with Ghana’s economy and wanted to know exactly where it was on the African map.

Some people, therefore, used the photo as propaganda to promote the NPP’s administration. It was however revealed that the picture had been photoshopped; meaning that it was fake. To make it easy to spot, all the countries on the map had the name, “Nambia”.

John Dramani Mahama’s tweet was therefore treated by other social media users as an ‘attack’ on the NPP administration and they did not take kindly to it.

America’s president, Donald Trump made world headlines when he was reported to have referred to Haiti and Africa as “shitholes”.

Many people have come out to criticize Donald Trump over the claim and even the African Union issued a statement to register its displeasure over the incident.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo took to his social media handle with a post which read, “The language of US President Donald Trump that the African continent, Haiti and El Salvador are “shithole countries” is extremely unfortunate. Ghana is certainly not a “shithole country”. We will not accept such insults, even from a leader of a friendly country, no matter how powerful.”
