Sixth Annual Dentists Council Opens

Accra, June 27, - A committee to draw up a programme for the training of dental clinic assistants has been established, the Minister of Health, Dr Eunice Brookman-Amissah, said today. Dr Brookman-Amissah said this forms part of plans by the Ministry to improve dental services in the country for the next five years. The Minister said this in a speech read for her by the Director of Medical Services, Dr Joseph D. Otoo, at the opening of a two-day sixth annual congress of the Ghana Dental Association on the Dr Brookman-Amissah said the Ministry is to increase access to public dental services in the urban as well as rural areas in line with its medium term health strategy. It will also promote dental health especially in schools in addition to the training of dental clinic assistants. Access to public dental services will be increased by rehabilitating existing dental facilities in the regions and district hospitals by replacing all unserviceable dental equipment and accessor In addition, the dental departments in all the regional capitals will have their laboratories equipped to make basic dental laboratory services available.
