Six churches in Sunyani Municipality organize peace prayer

Sunyani, Sept. 18, GNA - Members of six Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches in Sunyani Municipality on Wednesday organized a peace prayer conference towards the success of Election 2008. They included Living Grace Ministry, Temple of Praise Church (TOP), Bethel Prayer Ministry, Central Gospel International Church (CGIC), Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) and Christ Pentecostal International Church (CPIC).

The three-day event under the theme, "Prince of Peace" was an appeal to God to intervene for incidence-free elections. Pastor Richard Owusu-Achiaw, General Overseer of Living Grace Ministry, said no nation could be productive without peace and urged Ghanaians not to take the nation's peace currently being enjoyed for granted but endeavour to work hard to maintain it. He called on Ghanaians to regard themselves as one people with a common destiny and not to allow partisan politics to divide them. Pastor Owusu-Achiaw urged pastors and all religious leaders to collaborate and preach peace to their congregations and urged Christians not only to pray for peace but also refrain from acts which could destroy the nation's peace. "Ghana is recognized as a unique country and we must protect her image to prove to the world we respect and understand democracy," he added.

Pastor Owusu-Achiaw called on politicians and individuals to forget their differences but be united and pray to God for a President who would appreciate peace and have the interest of the nation at heart. "If the nation loses its precious peace everyone would suffer because businesses, education, church activities and everything would cease and the citizenry would face real hardships. Some people do not appreciate peace because they have never witnessed a country at war before," he added.

Pastor Owusu-Achiaw announced that similar prayer sessions would be organized in every town in Brong Ahafo Region to let the people know and appreciate the importance of peace.
