Six Envoys Present Letters Of Credence

Six newly accredited envoys to Ghana have presented their Letters of Credence to President John Agyekum Kufuor at the Castle, Osu. They are Mrs Mary Carlin Yates, the US Ambassador; Lucas Domingo Hernandez Polledo, Cuban Ambassador; Earisto D. Kimba. Angolan Ambassador; Abderrazak Azaier, Tunisian Ambassador; Dr (Mrs) Heide Keller, Austrian Ambassador and Moezdan Razak, the Ambassador of Indonesia.
President Kufuor urged them to endeavour to improve on the cordial relationship that had existed between their countries and Ghana for the mutual benefit of the people.
The Ambassadors pledged to ensure remarkable improvement of relations between their countries and Ghana during their tenure of office.

Ghana is committed to South-South Co-operation-Kufuor

President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday said Ghana was committed to the spirit of South-South Co-operation for development.
He said Ghana would also support the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in its efforts to achieve socio-economic development for member countries.
President Kufuor made the pledge when Mr Moezdan, Razak, Indonesia Ambassador to Ghana but resident in Abuja, Nigeria presented his Letters of Credence to him at the Castle, Osu.
He said Ghana and Indonesia share a lot in common especially in the agricultural sector since both of them were tropical countries and Indonesia could offer more assistance to Ghana in refining gold to add value to the mineral.
President Kufuor said with the advent of Information Technology (IT) the distance between the two countries should not be a barrier but efforts should be made to improve on their relations for the mutual benefit of the people.
Mr Razak said Ghana and Indonesia had long-standing relationship since both of them fought against colonialism, the formation of the NAM and very instrumental in South-South Co-operation for the benefit of their people.
He stressed the need for both countries to explore the potentials in each country for their mutual benefit.

Need to improve relations between Ghana and Austria-Kufuor

President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday said there was more room to improve on the relationship between Ghana and Austria especially in trade.
He therefore, called for an exchange programme between the private sector, the Chamber of Commerce and scholarships for Ghanaian entrepreneurs to learn the industrial sector of Austria.
President Kufuor said this when receiving the Letters of Credence of Dr (Mrs) Heide Keller, the Austrian Ambassador to Ghana but based in Abidjan, Cote D'Ivoire at the Castle, Osu.
Dr Keller said an exchange programme in the health sector to train more medical officers for Ghana had already began and would be extended to other sectors including tourism.

Need for more economic ties between Ghana and Tunisia-Kufuor

President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday said Ghana and Tunisia should explore more economic ties between them than only on political ties.
He said Ghana could benefit from the tourism, manufacturing and the housing sectors which Tunisia had the experience and expertise for its socio-economic efforts.
President Kufuor said this when Mr Abderrazak Azaier, Tunisian Ambassado to Ghana but based in Abuja, Nigeria presented his Letters of Credence to him at the Castle, Osu.
He said Ghana could also learn from Tunisia the emancipation of women and children through collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs (MOWCA).
Mr Azaier stressed the need for both countries to explore more avenues to share opinions, experience and experts for their mutual benefit.
He suggested that a Joint-Permanent Commission for Co-operation between both countries should be established to explore these avenues.
