Six Chinese assaulted by Ghanaians

Six Chinese construction workers who are part of the firm constructing the Sofoline interchange in the Ashanti regional capital have been allegedly brutally assaulted by striking indigenous workers.

The angry mob of Ghanaian workers allegedly attacked the Chinese after one of the expatriates allegedly pulled out a gun and attempted shooting the locals.

In an interview with Radio XYZ’ Ashanti regional Correspondent Isaac Bediako, two of the Ghanaian workers admitted assaulting their Chinese colleagues.

“We beat them because when we came here for our demonstration this morninhg they pulled guns on us and said if we come close to the yard they would kill us.

“So we decided we would not sit down for them to shoot us before…We will not sit in our country for a Chinese man to intimidate us”.

Meanwhile, the Police have invited both parties for questioning.

The locals started their indefinite strike and series of demonstrations on Monday in demand for better wages.
