Sir John summons Afari-Gyan before God...

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly called Sir John has “summoned Afari-Gyan, the Electoral Commission (EC) boss before God” for allegedly, rigging the polls in favour of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He stated that it was evidently clear that Dr. Afari-Gyan collaborated with the NDCs candidate and President of the land, John Dramani Mahama to change the verdict of the electorate.

The NPP general secretary noted that Dr. Afari-Gyan’s name would forever be attached to rigging in Ghana politics following his decision to stoop low to rig the 2012 polls in favour of the NDC.

Addressing a mammoth rally at Abbey’s Park in Kumasi yesterday, Sir John said the NDC rigged the polls across the country including areas that were deemed as NPP strongholds.

The NPP general secretary claimed that the NDC managed to rig the polls at Manhyia Constituency in Kumasi, a stronghold of the NPP, saying “the NDCs figure of 96 at a certain polling station was changed to whopping 996.”

He said if the NDC was able to rig the polls and change figures at areas perceived as NPP strongholds then “what would happen to the votes that the NDC would get in the Volta Region which is the ruling party’s stronghold?” he asked.

Sir John said the NPP had so far laid hands and worked on the red sheets of 24,000 out of the 26,000 of the polling stations across the country, adding that the NPP has resolved to send the EC to court to contest the results of the polls. He said the NPP would never let the toil and efforts of their supporters be in vain.

Sir John told NPP supporters that “we will not let you down” assuring them the party would adopt legal means to make sure the right thing was done with regard to the outcome of the polls.

Slamming the EC for twisting the figures to give victory to the NDC on a silver platter, he claimed that Dr. Afari-Gyan and the EC were moving across the length and breadth of the country to meet with NPP agents.

He insisted that the EC boss was under fire after learning that he would certainly be exposed if the NPP sent the matter to court; therefore he was trying behind the scenes to woo the NPP agents to sign fresh red sheets.

Sounding like making mockery of Dr. Afari-Gyan, Sir John admonished him not to waste his time and resources chasing the NPP agents, since the NPP had the genuine red sheets in their possession so nobody could temper with them.

He said information reaching him indicated that the NDC administration was planning to declare December 27 and 28 as public holidays so that the NPP could not go to court to contest the results of the polls.

Sir John said the NPP had 12 days more out of the 21 days to go to court and contest the polls so the electorate should not shiver.

He said the NPP wanted three things, one of which was for the number of votes stolen for President Mahama to be deducted and those deducted from Nana Akufo-Addo to be restored.

The NPP general secretary said his party was also heading to court so that polling stations where the number of voters were more than the number of people verified by the verification machines would be cancelled as stated by the EC prior to the elections.

Sir John said the NPP again wanted to contest why the “no verification no vote” statement of the EC was adhered to in the Ashanti Region, the stronghold of the NPP, but was ignored in the Northern, Greater Accra and Volta regions.

Sir John praised the almighty God for helping the NPP to verify the series of theft committed by the NDC to win the elections illegally right on time, saying “the NPP shall win in court.”
