Sir John is the bane of the NPP – Kofi Adam

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has condemned Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), for scandalizing the Supreme Court.

Mr Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, is alleged to have accused the Supreme Court which presided over the election petition case of cheating the NPP who were petitioners during a ‘Thank You Tour’ in Kumasi.

Speaking to party supporters, Sir John is also reported to have said that once the Supreme Court said in their ruling that there was nothing wrong with the 2012 elections, “in 2016, we will no longer go to court…”

In an interview on Citi Eye witness news, Kofi Adams alluded that lawyer Ayikoi Otoo, who once represented Sir John when he was charged with contempt, should again tell Ghanaians if Sir John is filled with an evil spirit ‘Gbeshie’; which is making him make unwarranted comments.

He does not understand why the NPP kingpin is making these utterances especially when he is serving a 6-month bond to be of good behaviour.

“It will only take Sir John or people like him to propagate such an agenda or information out there. It tells you the kind of thinking of his party…inciting your people. When you have leaders who think this way, there is no way your party will progress” he stated.

Commenting on the same issue and on the same platform, a former flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Arthur Kennedy, said Sir John is very ‘valuable’ to the party; however, he should rather focus on ‘going forward’ and leave the Supreme Court ruling behind.

According to him, such behavior is not favoring the party and is rather making ‘more enemies’ for the party.

“Those comments are unhelpful… We need to look forward instead of looking backwards; we need to think of the factors that caused our defeat and plan ahead. We seem to be making enemies of everybody, but we need to stop, do some soul searching and move on as a party,” he asserted.
