The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has issued a warning to individuals around him who feign affection toward him, urging them to desist from such hypocrisy.

According to a report by Manhyia-affiliated portal, opemsuo.com, the Asantehene cautioned that anyone pretending to love him while harbouring ill motives will be dealt with by the powers of the Golden Stool of the Ashanti Kingdom, known as Sika Dwa Kofi.

Otumfuo noted that his genuine love and goodwill toward all traditional leaders under his authority are often not reciprocated.

“Many of you smile with me, pretending to love me but have ill intent towards me. Sikadwa will deal with whoever feigns his love for me. I have a pure intent towards all of you,” opemsuo.com quoted the Asantehene as saying during an Asanteman Council meeting on October 16, 2025.

He further announced plans to hold a closed-door meeting with the traditional leaders to address some emerging issues within the traditional hierarchy.

Among the matters he highlighted were the silence and apparent detachment of some traditional leaders in the cases involving the Sampa and Offinso stools.

“We all sat here and delivered verdicts on both cases, but when issues arose afterwards, none of you came out to defend the decisions. Your attitude sounds like, ‘Do it alone,’ and I will definitely do it. Some of you secretly spread falsehoods about me outside.

“I was appointed to ascend Sikadwa, and they attached wisdom and power to reign. I will use them to deal with these issues and to rule,” he reportedly added.

The Asantehene also urged all traditional authorities within his realm to pursue the collective interest of Asanteman.

“You saw Asanteman before my reign, and you have seen how it is now,” he added.

According to historical accounts, the Golden Stool is believed to have descended from the heavens in a cloud of white dust amid thunder, landing on the lap of the first Asante king, Osei Tutu I, by the command of the legendary priest, Okomfo Anokye.
