The Ntranoa township near Ankaful in the Cape Coast metropolis of the central region has been thrown into a state of shock following the discovery of the lifeless bodies of two girls who went missing two days ago.

The girls who are siblings went missing on Thursday evening around 5pm when their pregnant mother sent them to buy her polythene bag to wrap Banku which she was preparing.

The two girls Sadia Abubakar,3, and Aisha, 5, failed to return in 10 minutes time sparking uneasiness in the mother who informed their father about the development.

After a series of announcements that evening on the community’s information centre without any results, a report was filed with the police with the community embarking on a search to find the two girls.

The bodies of the deceased were found a day later in a river in the town where another girl was murdered a year ago.

The search team found a sandal around the river side which the father attested to be that of the younger daughter Sadia, pushing the team to search in the river Sorowi in which the bodies were finally discovered.

Kasapa News Central regional correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour who was at the scene reports of blood stains around the river and also at the back of the younger one, Sadia when she was brought out of the river.

The elder, Aisha also had toffee locked in her month when she was brought out of the river.

The death of the two girls has sent shivers down the spine of the residents with many suspecting foul play specifically ritual murder, as the death of the girls brings to three the number of deaths at the same Sorowi river area in the last two years.

The father of the deceased girls , Ali Abubakr in an interview explained that he does not believe that his children accidentally got drowned in the river as the distance from their house to the river side is far .

Again, he added that the blood discovered on the body of the younger girl as well as the blood stains discovered near the river is ample evidence that the girls were murdered and dumped in the river.

“Apart from the blood stains , you can see there is toffee locked in the mouth of Aisha and that is difficult to believe. If indeed she got drowned ,she would have opened the mouth in the process and the toffee would have fallen from the mouth . This is a clear case of murder and we must not be deceived” Mr. Ali Abubakr stated.

He is therefore calling on the police to open investigations into the matter to bring the perpetrators to book.

The police have since come for the bodies and deposited them at the Central Regional Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
