As lots of people are seeking justice globally for the late George Floyd, Former President John Dramani Mahama has waded into the controversy to condemn the gruesome killing of the black-American.

According to him, most cases of injustice faced by the blacks in the United States of America (USA) was because of their skin colour.

Taking to his Facebook page to share his sentiment, the former president of the Republic of Ghana said, "The systemic prejudices and injustices faced by black people in America is based on racism – it makes no distinction on the basis of migration history, national origin, social class or educational attainment. They are concerned, solely, with the colour of your skin. That is because the issue at hand is not ‘respectability’, it is racism.”

Mahama added that he cannot stay mute and watch as the lives of Ghanaians and other Africans in America are endangered because of their skin colour.

“Recent events in America have brightened the moral spotlight on the systemic prejudice and danger that black people there experience solely because of the colour of their skin.”

He called for an end to racism irrespective of the race.

46-year-old George Floyd died shortly after, provoking protests by blacks in Minneapolis.
