Should Charlotte Osei's critics apologise to her?

The appointment of Mrs Charlotte Osei as the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana by President John Dramani Mahama was met with critisms and doubt by section of Ghanaians.

The critics argued she was incompetent hence would not be able to perform the task as an EC boss.

Among those who denigrated and attacked Mrs. Charlotte Osei’ s personality is the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong who claimed she exchanged sex for her job as the chair of the EC.

But after the 2016 general election, some Ghanaians have commended the EC boss for delivering a credible, free and fair election; with some religious leaders throwing a challenge to her detractors to boldly come out publicly to render an unqualified apology for their attacks on her personality.

Among them is the founder and leader of Christian Action Faith Ministries, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has chastised Madam Osei’s attackers said it was necessary to apologise because she proved her critics wrong by handling the 2016 polls with objectivity and integrity contrary to speculations made by her ill-wishers during the electioneering period.
