Shortage of photographic cards delay registration process

Tema, Aug 9, GNA - Most registered voters in the Tema Metropolis have not received their complete voters' identity cards due to shortage of photographic cards. Some registration officers told the GNA on Friday that shortage of photographic cards was a nationwide challenge facing the Electoral Commission. At the Padmore Electoral Area in Tema Community One, Mr Prosper Agbovi said the delay in securing the photographic cards which started on Thursday had compelled his area to record the information of eligible voters while waiting to take photographs later. Mr Fredrick Afikpui, a registration officer in charge of Horticultural Electoral Area at Chemu Secondary School, said the delay in getting the electoral materials contributed to the long queues. The Ashiboi Electoral Area in Twedaase Junior High School headed by Mr Samuel Commodore had since the beginning of the exercise registered 1,179 voters out of which 421 have not yet taken their photographs.
