Shootout At Dodowa

One person died from gunshots, when a watchdog committee member of Dodowa opened fire on the residents.

The gunman was himself rushed to the Police Hospital as the mob attempted lynching him.

The police are holding two other members of the committee who are accomplices to the crime.

Reports have it that on last Saturday night, a member of a yet-to-be inaugurated watchdog committee, Paapa John, allegedly drove carelessly in the Dodowa township and this brought about a confrontation between himself and one Odoi.

The following day, Sunday, at about 7:30am, Paapa John, accompanied his colleague, Benjamin Narh, a football coach, and Ofoe Akputei, to the house of Odoi.

On their way back they confronted him and Ben Narh pulled a locally manufactured pistol and shot him in the lower abdomen.

Odoi died on the way to the Atoa Government Hospital at Krobo Odumase.

A mob then descended on the assailant but he was rescued and sent to the Police Hospital under armed guard.
