Shiashie Premium Registration Center closed, services moved online - NIA

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the permanent closure of its Premium Registration Center located at its Head Office at Shiashie, in Accra.

In a press release dated May 7, 2025, the public is advised to access Ghana Card registration services through its online appointment portal: http://register.nia.gov.gh.

“Kindly be informed that effective Monday, 5th May 2025 applicants who wish to access any of our premium services (first-time registration, card replacement or personal information update) at the following premium centres must register and book appointment online via register.nia.gov.gh,” the statement said.

Following the closure, individuals seeking to register for the Ghana Card are directed to two designated Premium Centers in Accra:

• Cal Bank Headquarters, Ridge (Digital Address: GA-052-4957)
• Accra Regional Coordinating Council, Legon City Campus

The NIA also outlined a seven-step process for the new registration procedure, aimed at improving convenience and reducing long queues:

1. Online Application:
Applicants must complete an application form on the NIA portal.

2. Payment: The required registration fee must be paid online to secure the appointment.

3. Interview Booking: Applicants schedule a virtual or in-person interview with a registration officer who will verify and approve their application.

4. QR Code Issuance: After a successful interview, applicants receive a QR code.

5. Appointment Booking: The QR code is used to book an appointment at a selected Premium Centre.

6. Biometric Capture: On the appointment date, applicants will have their biometric data—fingerprints, iris scan, photograph, and signature—captured.

7. Card Issuance: The Ghana Card is printed and issued upon completion of the process.

The NIA encouraged all individuals who have not yet registered to utilise the online system for a smooth and efficient experience.
