Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy make huge donations to Black Stars World Cup campaign

Ghanaian musicians Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have made a significant contribution to the Black Stars' fundraising campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

The funds are specifically designated to help fly Ghanaian supporters to the 2026 World Cup, ensuring that the team will have the backing of their fans in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Stonebwoy at the fundraising dinner on Friday, March 20, 2026, pledged $81,000 in cash and an additional $20,000 worth of music services, bringing his total donation to $101,000.

His colleague, Shatta Wale on the other hand made a donation of $100,000 to aid government to send supporters to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Their contributions add to the $5 million headline sponsorship from Engineers & Planners, the mining firm owned by Ibrahim Mahama, and a $2 million pledge from Gold Fields, with an additional $1 million committed for next year.

President John Dramani Mahama, who launched the fundraising campaign, also announced government support for interested television stations to acquire World Cup broadcast rights, ensuring Ghanaians can follow the team's campaign.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto.
