Seven individuals have been arrested by the police in separate intelligence-led operations at Ejisu, Abrepo Junction and Atimatim, in the Ashanti Region.

The arrests, which were made on Thursday, August 20, 2026, by the IGP Special Operations Team (SOT), followed intelligence on suspected narcotics-related activities in the areas.

According to the Head of the Public Affairs Unit in the Ashanti Region, Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo, some of the suspects were arrested at Ejisu and have been identified as 43-year-old Nana Kwadwo Adu and 48-year-old Nana Kwame Fella.

Four others, Stephanie Anokye, 23; Roland Anokye, 20; Gideon Owusu, 30; and Grace Fosua, 27, were arrested at Abrepo Junction.

At Atimatim, the team arrested 27-year-old Kofi Opoku, who was suspected of involvement in the sale of narcotic substances and had allegedly evaded arrest on previous occasions.

The Police said the operations led to the recovery of several items suspected to be narcotic substances and unregistered drugs.

These included pill pouches containing dried leaves suspected to be narcotics, quantities of Tramaking 225mg and 250mg, Royal 255mg and Rophynol 100mg, as well as 860 Tramadol tablets and capsules. An amount of cash was also retrieved from some of the suspects.

“The operations resulted in the recovery of quantities of pill pouches containing dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances, quantities of Tramaking 225mg and 250mg, Royal 255mg and Rophynol 100mg, as well as 860 tablets and capsules of Tramadol suspected to be unregistered drugs. An unspecified amount of Ghanaian currency was also recovered,” parts of the statement read.

The seven suspects are said to be currently in Police custody and are assisting with investigations.

The Police said the investigations will focus on finding the source of the substances, establishing the extent of the suspects’ involvement and identifying other people who may be linked to the activities.

“The ongoing investigations are intended, among other things, to establish the source of the substances, determine the full extent of the suspects' involvement, and identify any other persons who may be connected to the suspected activities,” it added.
