Senior British military officer to visit Ghana

Accra, July 25, GNA - A senior British army officer, Lieutenant General Richard Fry would pay his first visit to Ghana from 28 July. A statement from the British High Commission on Friday said Lt. Gen. Fry, the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (Commitments), hopes to call on President John Agyekum Kufuor during the visit.

He also hopes to meet Dr Kwame Ado Kufuor, Minister of Defence and Lt. Gen. Seth Obeng, Chief of Defence Staff.

Accoeding to the statement, he will also visit the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, the British Military Advisory Training Team (West Africa) who support the Staff College and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.

Lt-Gen Fry's role as the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (Commitments) enables him to provide advice for operations/commitments, direction to Operational Commanders, and direct and develop Defence aspects of British Crisis Management Machinery.
