Hon Andrew Egyapa Mercer, Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekondi has applauded His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s Government for including the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital to the list of Regional Hospitals to benefit from the Government’s prioritization of healthcare development across the nation. Specifically, the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital will benefit from a significant refurbishment.

The MP indicated that, since Effia-Nkwanta Hospital, the regional referral centre, is situated in his Constituency, the refurbishment of the Regional Hospital will help improve health delivery in Western Region as a whole, and Sekondi Constituency, in particular.

On behalf of the Queen Mother, Chiefs of Sekondi Traditional Area and the People of Sekondi Constituency, we express our profound gratitude to the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Regional Minister for yesterday's announcement because this project will go a long way to help improve the health of the people of Sekondi and the entire Region.

Apart from this hospital being a referral centre, it is a training centre for pre-service students, internships and postgraduate medical training for some categories of health workers.

This project is also in fulfilment of the Government’s commitment to fight against the global pandemic (COVID-19) and to refurbish old healthcare facilities infrastructure to benefit all Ghanaian citizens.

Hon Egyapa Mercer expressed his gratitude to the Government for acceding to his and the entire Region’s request which was made to the President when he visited Nana Kwasi Agyemang IX (Chief of Lower Dixcove).
