Seek wise counsel or be destroyed by the gods – Group warns Gabby

The Kumasi Youth Association (KuYA) has warned leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko to immediately render an unqualified apology to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for disrespecting him or face the wrath of the powerful gods of Asanteman.

According to the group, failure on the part of Gabby to do the needful within three weeks will ensure he’s banned from entering Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Capital.

The former Executive Director of Danquah Institute had said he was perplexed over the accusation against him that he’s speaking ill and undermining the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

A group calling itself the Concerned Youth of Ashanti has accused Gabby Asare Otchere Darko and the Executive Secretary to the President Asante Bediatuo of running down the Asantehene.

Dr. Nana Agyenim Boateng, President of the Concerned Youth of Ashanti said all the negative things being said about the Asantehene by the two individuals have contributed to the Monarch’s anger.

The King fumed at some NPP executives including the Acting General Secretary John Boadu and Ashanti regional Chairman Antwi Boasiako popularly called Chairman Wontumi when they visited him at his palace, leading to them kneeling before him to beg for forgiveness last Wednesday.

The Asantehene reportedly complained bitterly about certain actions by some NPP members who are bent on pitching the Okyehene against the Asantehene.

However reacting to the allegations against him in a Facebook post, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko who’s a nephew of President Nana Akufo Addo rubbished the claims saying he’s not dumb to work against his own interest.

“Am I so stupid that I would work against my own interest and turn one half of me against the other half by inciting my mother’s people against my father’s people; that I would bite the very hand that feeds us politically? Perplexing

But the General Secretary of KuYA, Kwabena Frimpong told Kasapa News that the group finds Gabby’s comment as very offensive to the King, hence he should ask for clemency or live with the consequences of his action.

“Mr Gabby Asare Otchere Darko took to Facebook and responded to our King on what we deem to be against custom and what courtesy demands.

This clearly shows Mr Gabby Asare Otchere Darko’s arrogance and lack of respect for our king and Asanteman. We’re advising Mr Gabby Asare Otchere Darko to immediately seek wise counsel before the gods destroy him.”
