Kofi Offeh, a Ghanaian man parading himself as the king of an “African tribe” in a woodland on the Scottish border, has been arrested by immigration enforcement officers.

The 36-year-old, who styles himself as King Atehene, was arrested alongside his queen, Jean Gasho, a 42-year-old Zimbabwean, and his so-called handmaiden, Kaura Taylor, from Texas.

The trio had set up a makeshift camp near Jedburgh, which they described as their “kingdom.”

Offeh and his group claimed they were reclaiming the woodland, which they alleged had been stolen from their ancestors 400 years ago.

A viral video, believed to have been recorded by the group, captured the moment of their arrest.

The footage showed Offeh cooperating with the police while one of the women filming could be heard saying: “My Lord has been arrested, I love you so much.”

In response, Offeh said: “This was bound to happen. I will come for you.”

According to a report by dailymail.co.uk, police arrived at the woodland at around 8 AM on Thursday, October 2, 2025, to remove Offeh and the women.

Other reports indicated that Offeh had overstayed his visa and is likely to be deported to Ghana.

The arrest followed two eviction notices served to the group since May.

A fresh court order, issued on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, banned them from reoccupying the private land they had previously been ordered to vacate.
