School drop-out arrested for attempting to rape teacher

Agona Duotu, May 29, GNA - A 19-year old school drop-out in the Agona District Assembly Junior High School at Agona Duotu has been arrested for attempting to rape a teacher at her quarters.

Philip Acquah has since been handed over to the Agona Duakwa Police and would soon be put before court at Agona Swedru.

Briefing newsmen at Duotu, Nana Bukari Boye, Branhene of Duotu, said that the chiefs have been receiving reports from the headmistress of the School that some people have been knocking at the doors of the female teacher to open for sex but they have been ignoring them.

The Branhene said the chiefs upon that reports formed a Watchdog Committee to keep vigil at the quarter and arrest the culprits. He said the telephone numbers of the members of the committee were given to the female teachers to call any time such unusual knocks are heard= .. Nana Boye said on 24th May, at midnight, Acquah went and knocked at th= e doors of one of the female teachers with a warning that if the door is forced opened he would kill her after having sex with her. According to Nana Boye, female teacher texted one of the Watchdog committee member and they quickly rushed to the scene where Acquah was arrested.

He later told newsmen that teachers who decided to leave the town because of harassment, have rescinded their decision with the formation of Watchdog Committee and the subsequent arrest of Acquah.
