Former Minister for Trade and Industry, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has made a call to old vandals to help prepare students for the ‘real’ world.

Delivering a lecture which forms part of the 60th anniversary of the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana, Mr. Spio-Garbrah, an old vandal said even though there are qualified teachers teaching various subjects in schools, it is important for people working in other sectors to go back to these schools and share with students what the job market is like since their teachers don’t have those experiences to share.

“If the knowledge that is outside is not coming into the classroom then there is a disparity,” he noted.

Spio-Garbrah additionally indicated that there should be “relevant content to the specific developmental needs of Ghana and Africa” in the new curricular being developed for JHS, SHS and Universities.

He believes that some of the contents of the curricular that have been used in the past were of no benefit to students.
