Deputy Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Awuku has lambasted the Mahama led administration for its recent reshuffle of Regional Ministers nationwide and believes the President must rather be reshuffled.
President John Mahama announced his first ministerial reshuffle barely a month after appointing them into office.
The reshuffle is to ensure that Regional Ministers focus mainly on the political and technical coordination of the development efforts of MMDAs, and as a measure to foster national unity, integration and cohesion in the Mahama led administration.
Speaking to Peacefmonline.com, the outspoken NPP deputy communications director and a leading member of Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) called on the President to reshuffle himself as the Head of State since there is no hope under his leadership as the president of the state.
“First of all it is the President that we must reshuffle because our current situation as a country breaks our attention and it breaks our commitment. I think that it looks like this government (NDC) is building a hopeless state and a hopeless city for all of us,” he said.
He further said; “for the first time in our country we have shortage of gas and at the same time rationing of water, erratic power supply, we are all engulf with filth, the waste management companies are no longer collecting it and It is terrible. Businesses are collapsing before our very eyes, it’s terrible. I think that, it looks like they (the NDC) are building a hopeless state and a hopeless city for us rather than a ‘Hope City’”.
According to Sammy Awuku, some appointed Ministers are yet to commence affairs of their region so there was no need for such a reshuffle to be made by the President in less than a month.
“Nothing is working in this country, the President’s Regional Ministers appointments have not even lasted for a month. I know some Regional Ministers who are yet to handover to the newly appointed ones. What work have they (the Ministers) done for that one month for them to be reshuffled? It shows that the presidency itself don’t know what they are about,” he opined.
