Samia is a bully – Onsy

Dr Onsy Nathan Anwar Nkrumah, who was disqualified from the Convention People’s Party’s (CPP) flagbearer race, has accused Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s daughter, Samia Nkrumah, of being behind his disqualification.

Dr Onsy Nkrumah, who also claims to be a son of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, said Samia Nkrumah has joined forces with others in the party to bully him out of the race.

“Samia and her friends pulled every negative effort against me, so I think it’s obvious,” Dr Nkrumah told Citi FM on Friday January 15, adding: “I find it regrettably unfortunate that she is trying every” means to frustrate his bid.

“You cannot bully your way around like that, it’s just not acceptable,” Dr Nkrumah said.

General Secretary Nii Armah Akomfrah explained that Dr Onsy Nkrumah was disqualified because “he presented a fraudulent cheque and that was the basis [on which] the party disqualified him.”

“The party required a banker's draft or cash; he presented a cheque. We worked around it, we tried to find a way, and in the end we could not admit him because there was no sufficient fund to be able to admit him," Mr Akomfrah told Class News.

Dr Onsy Nkrumah, however, said he was muscled out of the race by Samia, who is one of the four contestants cleared by the party to run the race. His accusations follow similar claims by a group of CPP members belonging to the Tertiary Students Charter of the CPP, Old Executives (TESCHARTO). The group said Dr Onsy Nkrumah was virtually hounded out of the party’s headquarters a few days ago when he attempted going through the processes towards running for the slot.

A statement jointly signed by Osei Kofi Acquah, James Samuel Ackerson, Abdul Rahman Basit, Tweneboah David, and Kwame Amprah Twum said there was a conspiracy among Samia Nkrumah, Mr Akomfrah as well as National Youth Organiser Ernesto Yeboah, to frustrate Dr Onsy Nkrumah’s bid.

Mr Kofi Acquah told ClassFMonline.com in an interview that Mr Yeboah and some pro-Samia youth went on the rampage at the party’s Asylum Down headquarters and destroyed all posters, as well as anything that had Dr Nkrumah’s face on it. He also claimed Mr Akomfrah locked out Dr Nkrumah from his office when he (Onsy) went there to submit himself to processes for the contest. Mr Acquah claimed Samia Nkrumah looked on with glee as Dr Onsy Nkrumah was being hounded out of the headquarters.

As far as Mr Acquah is concerned, Samia’s posture betrayed her alleged orchestration of Dr Onsy Nkrumah’s disqualification from the race. Four people are being vetted for the race. Apart from Samia, the rest are former General Secretary Ivor Greenstreet, Mr Bright Akwetey, and Joseph Agyepong.

Samia Nkrumah recently confirmed assertions by her brother Dr Sekou Nkrumah that Dr Onsy Nkrumah, proposed marriage to her a few years ago.

"I only speak the truth, so, yes I confirm," Dr Nkrumah's daughter told Kwadwo Asare-Baffuor Acheampong (KABA) on Asempa FM’s political talk show 'Ekosii Sen' on Wednesday December 30, 2015 when asked if, indeed, Dr Onsy Nkrumah ever proposed to marry her.

Pressed further by KABA about why she turned him down, Samia Nkrumah said: "Oh dear me! Look we're serious ooo! I'm a married woman and I have a son… But the point of the matter is this Onsy chap is part of a political project to destabilise Nkrumah's followers," she added.

Dr Onsy Nkrumah surfaced onto the scene about four years ago with a claim that he was one of the children of the pan-Africanist. Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s known children are: Prof Francis Nkrumah, Dr Gamel Nkrumah, Samia Nkrumah and Dr Sekou Nkrumah. Gamel, Samia, and Sekou have, on several occasions, challenged Dr Onsy Nkrumah to prove he is a biological son of the late African leader.
