Sam George dissects Otabil over “sinking ship” comment

A member of the governing National Democratic Congress [NDC] Communications Team has accused the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church [ICGC], Dr. Mensa Otabil of putting up the semblance of a Man of God whiles his conduct is that of a businessman.

Samuel George did not only label the renowned Pastor a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] whose intention is to demean the Mahama-led administration, but also accused him of not attending any National Prayer because of his resentment for the ruling party.

He strongly opines Dr. Otabil’s “attitude, demeanor” and choice of words are purely political and malice-intended after the revered inspirational speaker claimed Ghana needs a new leadership to tackle the current socio-economic challenges facing the country.

At the launch of this year’s “Festival of Ideas” in Accra, the ICGC leader pointed out that “all is not well…I believe that we need a new leadership. The times we are in require leadership that responds to crisis with clarity and with purpose”.

The seasoned Man of God further counseled that it is imperative for government, together with Ghanaians, “to act intentionally, decisively, methodically and if we do at the national level, I think we can avert the disaster.”

He stressed that Ghanaians cannot afford to be “perplexed and so overwhelmed by what we hear, we see that we become frozen in action and do nothing”.

Adding that, “its time government accepts the current challenges and draw up specific plans to steer the nation out of its present dilemma”.

Regarding the downward spiral of the cedi, Dr. Otabil indicated that although Ghanaians are praying for stability, the cedi has a very “peculiar mind of its own” adding that instead of sitting around and hoping for a turnaround, “it will be great for us [Ghanaians] to face reality that things could get worse.”

But in a rather sharp riposte on Asempa FM, Sam George, who appeared quite upset with Pastor Otabil’s assertions noted that, “His [Dr. Mensah Otabil] words are not from God”.

He claims Dr. Otabil speaks as a “business man” instead of portraying himself as a “man of God”.

“That man [Dr. Mensah Otabil] is more of a politician than a man of God. It is not everyone who claims to be a man of God who is real,” he said.

The NDC communicator also alleged that, “There is some enviness in him [Dr. Otabil] because former President John Evan Mills withdrew his diplomatic passport from him”.

“For the past six years, Mensah Otabil [Dr.] has failed to attend every national prayer organised by the NDC government because of jealousies,” he alleged.

“Not everything in the Bible comes from God. The words from the devil also comes from the Bible,” he noted
